|I tried to bid 10 million gold on an item in the AH. The bid failed, but the gold was not returned to my account. A second bid was successful, and eventually I got the item for 10 million, however the whole process did cost me 20 million. This happened about a week ago. |
Order id of the successful bid: 1050188006
I had some communication with the customer support through a ticket (Ticket US32070304). During this process it was verified that the gold was taken from my account when the bid failed. However eventually I was told by the CS representative that they could not restore the gold to my account or even verify whether or not it was returned (I can verify that it was not returned). Further I was directed to submit a bug report, which I am doing here.
Note that there is no order id for the failed bid, at least not on AH screen. The CS could verify that there were failed bids during the time I indicated, however I am not sure if they could see whether gold was actually taken out of the account, and whether it was returned. I am 100% sure that the gold was taken and not returned, which I guess is a serious bug.
Gold from a failed bid was not returned to my account

Javrius is indeed correct, I absolutely cannot look into this information as I do not have access to player accounts like CS does. I am moving this thread to Technical Support so Omrakos could maybe take a look.
If he cannot help you, he will direct you to someone who can.
I apologize for the inconvenience. I know it is frustrating to be told to contact different people, but as a QA Rep all I can do is document bugs, not look into player accounts.
Sorry, posted too soon.
In this case the Authorization failed, which means no gold was taken from you. In this situation, from the player’s perspective under periods of heavy load, it appears gold is taken from their inventory, when in fact it is not. The gold will later appear back in their inventory, not the AH stash since the gold is never removed from their inventory.
