Diablo 3 Blue Posts » Involuntary character migration
| So the original thread has been locked - http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4077738830?page=26 at 26 pages long - no doubt damage limitation for Blizzard's reputation. I wanted to share my experience. My lvl 60 (43) char is stuck in the wrong region... Firstly, thanks so much for the excellent advice and customer service I received. ---edit: my account was hacked and returned to me, service WAS excellent --- My remaining issue is that following the hack of my account, my main character, #####, has been moved to a US server. Could you please move the character back to the European server please? Many thanks, ##### #2 21/10/2012 02:43 Glymbil Customer Service Representative Greetings #####, Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment, my name is John and I will be assisting with your issue today. I see that you are having issues with Diablo III and need some assistance. As characters cannot be transferred from the EU > US or US > EU in Diablo III, the most likely scenario is that you without realizing created and have been playing the character in the US region. If you need further assistance please respond to this ticket or give Blizzard a call at 1-800-59-BLIZZARD (800-592-5499). Customers in Australia should call 1-800-041-378. My personal goal is to provide you with the best customer service experience possible. thanks, JohnA Account & Technical Services Rep (<Snip!>) Customer Services Blizzard Entertainment www.blizzard.com/support <http://www.blizzard.com/support> #3 22/10/2012 17:02 ##### Ok, that doesnt really provide a solution. I definitely created the character on EU server - presumably this can be checked. Having done some research there are a number of people who have had the same problem - characters moving to other realms spontaneously. Apparently it is possible for Devs to fix this. As I mentioned, I think this is the result of a hack, but may have happened as a "bug" shortly after I created the character. Either way I would like my character transferred since I live in the EU. Surely this is possible? I did, after all, pay £50 to purchase the game. I now suffer from poor connections and boot regularly which I can only assume is to do with latency problems. I also have other characters in EU and want to share my gold with them. Please migrate my character. #4 22/10/2012 17:18 Naahjeck Customer Service Representative Hello #####, I took a look into this for you and all the information on this end is showing that you have always been on the US region. There is no connection between the regions for the databases which is why you have to pick one and make a character there. The character was created on the US region and has to remain there as we cannot move characters between the regions. Now I did find some reports from other players on the forums about this happening to other players but when I looked into those these players had also made the characters on the incorret region due to not checking the region before making the characters. We will not be able to move your character to the EU region. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. Regards, Daniel M. Customer Services Blizzard Entertainment http://eu.battle.net/support #5 9 hours ago ##### To be honest I dont feel this response is adequate. The launch was rushed and subject to a number of problems. The default region should match the users IP, not default to the americas. I do not believe you that all these players picked/defaulted to the wrong region. If it were a "default" issue, it would have happened to nearly every player in the EU. Furthermore, I and a number of them clearly remember picking an EU server. It is clearly a glitch. I do not believe that it is impossible to move characters, simply policy due to the amount of work required due to an initial mess up by blizzard. An appropriate analogy would be the hospital refusing to perform surgery to remove a foreign body that they themselves dropped into a persons wound. A good service provider should also be prepared clean up their own mess. I am disappointed with this service. I reserve my rights to make this information public knowledge. I will think twice about purchasing Blizzard products in future. #6 2 hours ago Jolivurene Customer Service Representative Hi and thanks for your reply! I can understand your frustration with this, however it isn't that a policy is blocking us from transferring a character, it is a technical limitation. We have no way to transfer characters from one region to another in D3 just like it isn't possible for players to do this. I can understand the frustration and confusion this may have caused though. A number of things may have set your region as US when you initially created the account. Having the region as US myself I can understand it frustrating if you initially intended to be on the EU region. The good news is at least that characters aren't deleted when swapping realms while you play on the EU region you intended to play on. While it means starting again almost while playing you can still have fun logging in with your friends or suggest they join you on the US region. So once again really glad we could at least recover the hacked account for you but apologise for the frustration it has caused you. Take care and I hope you have a good week ahead. Not "my mistake" as was accused. It is also not "lucky" that my character wasn't deleted. To reuse my medical analogy, that's like saying a patient is "lucky" the surgeon didn't accidentally chop off the wrong leg. I find it appalling that no attempt to fix this is offered, no responsibility has been taken by blizzard, I have been lied to by technical staff (the individual telling me they had checked creation locations of all affected individuals and found it to be their mistake, when it is Blizzard's error), and then told that I am "lucky" because some elements of service are entirely adequate. Blizzard are lucky to have customers. |
