I think the dynamic of the wizard makes it enticing.  It's a very powerful character, but has the potential to be killed easily.  Blizzard describes the wizard as a "glass cannon."  I'm sure that at higher levels, a lot of strategy will be needed to be an efficient player.

I frankly don't see why the wizard needs to be a glass cannon. Unless Blizzard really screwed them with the automatic stat point allocations. That in a nutshell is why I'm so terribly against that system. What if I want to make a melee wizard? What? I can't put my stat points in myself so that I can maximize my potential? I have to be stuck in the cookie cutter that everyone else is? Lame.... I preferred the stats from D2.

most of people still would put everything needed for class and rest on Vit.

So? That's their choice, and frankly I prefer choice to being forced into one set way as they have done to us.

I personally loved playing as the sorceress in D2 to naturally I'll flock to the wizard in D3. That is once I actually get to play the game.

I've played a ton of games and they have made me realized that wizards, or any spellcasters for that matter, are "squishy." That means easily killed. It may be the same case for the game. Unless, like Arisilde, one would want to allocate stat points to make wizards, maybe even witch doctors, tougher.

Just get some Vit runes for maximum potential then.. :)
Get over the fact that stats are fixed, there are other ways to stand out from the crowd now.

And with all the spells+runes, you don't have to be squishy with some defensive spells.

There's no reason we should be forced to use up our socket slots for that when they could have just left the already perfectly fine system alone instead of making into a hand holding crapfest. I honestly can't believe you are defending the REDUCTION of customization from what they already had in previous games.

Everyone has their opinion, I honestly hate stat distribution in games and I am happy with the way things have turned out. :)
Too bad you don't like it.. But I'm sure it won't bug you that much once the game is released and you finally get to play it.. Lets hope so! :)

Well, at the very least they could have compromised like many many other rpg's have done in the past, give players the option to allocate stat points or let them be allocated automatically. really, how hard would that have been? Then everyone is happy.

I'll play with wizard because it's my favorite class from D2 in addition to seeing the Beta I see you have a variety of very useful skills for both pve and pvp being versatile.

I love casters.  I certainly hope the wizard is as fun to play as the sorceress was.

You can't ever go wrong with the magic using class.
