I need a new GPU to play Diablo III, I want the Ideal card for this game, as it is likely the only game I will play for many years.  I want the cheapest card as well, under 150.

I have vista 64-bit
4 gigs ram
Mobo:  Nforce 680i SLI
Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600  @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs),
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
My power supply is at least 750+ watts (cant remember and don't feel like looking i know it was a good one when I bought it a few years back)

Thanks for the tips

750 should be more than enough for most setups(xfire/sli too)

if you're that low you might want to check the used market, you can get a lot of power, and the last two generations of gfx are still very powerful, at least powerful enough for most recent games.

6770 is around 100$ new and does very well for it's price, but i suggest you google around and find some tests to compare the cards you are suggested or offered on the used market so you know exactly what you're getting for your money.

he doesn't need a psu upgrade unless he plans on running xfire or sli with so many cards he runs out of 6+2's

also, he already said he has at least 750, which should be enough for 2x sli/xfire with most cards(except maybe dual gpu cards like the x2's or 90 series), even if it degraded 10-15% since he bought it.

That's a terrible price, even for an Antec. Not modular... not even 80 plus raiting...
Same pice, Antec, almost double the wattage, 80 plus, modular

I am very weary about buying used pc parts, I am afraid I will get it home and it simply will not work, or be so worn it won't last very long.

Do you buy used pc parts often?  If so where from?   I feel like if I buy it off craig's list or something I will just get con'd

You lost me at "I have vista 64-bit". Get something from this decade and you'll be fine. ;)

A decade being 10 years he would be in "this decade".  If however you were refering to something after 2010 then there is nothing as even windows 7 was release in 2009.

Not for this game but I am finally working on getting my machine upgraded too,  I am running a core 2 quad  2.4ghz and 260 gts so it's about time.   I am mostly doing this for Battlefield 3 and Guild Wars 2 because the beta for this runs fine.

Upgrading to i5 or i7(in great debate about it)  and a Super-clocked 570, so definitely a nice upgrade.

It's too bad the 600 series will take forever to release the mid range versions of that, i might hold out for one of those but with my card  being 6(?) years old I don't think its got too much longer.

Well, my computer which is now a little over a year old, will run Diablo 3 comfortably. I did have to turn down the resolution a bit, but otherwise it ran as smooth as glass. I was initially worried that my notebook wouldn't run it, but after holding my breath and downloading the Beta during the open weekend, I let out a small sigh of relief as everything worked well. Not sure I want to post my stats here, though...wouldn't want everyone laughing at me.  But here goes:

HP Pavillion dv6-3122US
4 gb ram
500 gb hard drive
AMD dual-core processor @ 2.80 ghz
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics card

Yes, I can run Skyrim as well, on medium settings...so despite the computer being "old", it seems to do well. I know my luck won't hold out forever, but at least I can enjoy the Diablo 3 experience... :)

EDIT: Ah, sorry folks. My processor speed is 2.40...not 2.80.

I left my crossfired radeon 5850 machine back at home and am at school for the next 7 months, 2,500 miles away, with my old laptop that has a 512mb 9800gt mobile in it. I miss my baby, but I'm thankful this laptop can run the game pretty smooth at the lowest settings and max resolution my laptop will allow. 2 weeks from tomorrow! As far as graphics cards go, the Radeon HD 6850 is a pretty decent deal and right on with your price point http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814150573

On a side note, it's probably not needed, but it never hurts to have more ram :) doubling your RAM would be really cheap.

That's why sometimes I still wish I had a good desktop. Notebooks are "hard" to upgrade. Well, since I'm not that skilled, it would be hard for me, anyway.
