So much for your "smart ass" reply.
It was a starter edition version of D3 that was open to anyone for around 4-6 hours, plenty of time for anyone to play the whole "Beta" 2-3 times.
Be glad I shared this, ALL of you had a chance to play D3 yesterday. I was the first to post about it on this website. You are welcome! ;-)
If you are curios what it looked like you can see a new character selection screenshot posted in the linked newspost above.

First there was no "official" statement from Blizzard that there was open beta access, it was due to a bug that Blizzard fixed...4 to 6 hours does not constitute an open beta, that amount of time un-announced would be totally unfair to the masses. I do thank you for the info but not everyone can respond to that kind of time frame.FYI some of us have to work 12 hour shifts and barely have enough energy to post a few lines on the forums much less download and play the beta.as for release i personally have to wait for my days off to play now, which i will quite content to do.On another note you do have a good site going and i try to visit as many decent D3 sites within the time constraints i have, keep up the good work.

At the time I posted about it no one knew what was going on, and it was open to everyone, not just those that had pre-ordered. That is why I wrote Open Beta.
Anyone with a BattleNet account could login and play what turned out to be the Diablo 3 starter edition.
Either it was a hype move from Blizzard, a stress test, or a clumpsy slip-up. I guess we will never find out!
Thanks for the feedback

They probably changed something on the logon server and it started letting everyone in.

And this many problems with just 190k users inside, meh I hope they are better prepared than they were with D2.
