Does your class choice depend on voice acting? This was brought to my attention by a friend who decides whether to play the male or female version based on the character's voice.
Here's an example of the voice acting for each class and gender:

What do you guys think?
Voice acting and your first class choice...

Actually, I always wanted to be a monk, before even the class was announced (it was my proposed class for D3, before the game was even announced, when talking amongst friends) ... I've had some issues with the way he's been nerfed, but decided to stick with him ...
I play male characters, cos I'm a guy (my buddy only plays guys cos he doesn't find a female warrior sort as being realistic, im far more open on that point) ... I find it a bit odd when people don't follow suit on that, but no judging, each to their own (i guess when i think of the chars i think of the monk barbarian and WD as male, and the wizard and DH as female - prob because its that way in their videos) ... i've heard some people say that if they spend 100 hours staring at something from behind they want it to look good so chose the female ones, but that just sounds kinda creepy to me ...
Anyway, back to your question .... monk, male - cos i got no problems with him ...
...but as for my ALT i wanted to be a WD (and again had issues with him, but i feel he'd be more fun for an ALT because of how varied his skills are with all the different runes - so it'd feel less repetitive) ...
However, I found the voice acting of the male WD in the beta a bit over the top and ham fisted, it was a bit too much of a caricature ... so think I'll be using a female one as my alt ... so yeah, it does make a difference

Funny enough, pre-beta I was set on Monk and a close second was Witch Doctor, last place being Barb.
Playing the beta, the Monk took a back seat to the WD, as I absolutely loved it.
I built a new computer to play D3, so I spent a lot of time waiting around not playing the beta, but once I finally got all my hardware and everything set up, I played a ton. My friend and I went through all the characters and did the full beta max. After all the time playing, my top two choices are now the Barb and Demon Hunter. When it comes down to it, I think I'll play the Barb for his awesome crowd control, and for the fact that I think the DH is too good. It's hard not to play with the vault skill and the accompanied rune that increases run/walk speed, and I end up speeding past everyone and it makes it kind of boring/I look like an asshole. I'm almost positive I'll play the Barb first. Ironically enough, last place for me would be the monk and the WD. After playing the barb and DH, the WD just didn't compare. This of course comes with the fact that we were capped at 13, so things could change.
To answer your question, no the voices had nothing to do with my class choices. As far as sex, I play whatever I feel the character should be. Barb definitely male. WD and sorc definitely female. Others are a toss up.
Lastly, why didn't you include any of the other voice commands. If you would have went into the key binding options under the menu, you would have found that there are "No" "Yes" "Attack" "Take the object," etc voice commands that are unbound by default.

You just inadvertently raised an interesting question for me! Do we have any females on these forums?? I can't think of any I have come across, but when I think about it I just make the assumption that we are all guys

rwhite> I'll admit the barb is damn powerful, I just don't find him that interesting myself ... but the DH? why? I don't people's obsession with him, I can categorically state that no matter how much time I invest in D3 and how many characters I level up, I am never going to play a DH ... they are just so boring to play, and I normally like ranged characters (am a ranger in PoE) ... blizz should have gone with the design of having the DH with demon body parts...
the WD will be my alt because i think the runes change his skills in a more visual way that with the other characters, so as an alt when playing through things I've already done I'm hoping he will keep it fresh throughout his leveling to 60 .... as for the monk as my main, he's changed since i first got to play with him and was very happy, but i'll stick with him, partially cos he's the sort of character i always wanted, partially because i like the fact that im really into martial arts and am going to play a monk and my buddy who im gonna play through with is into those strongman events and going to play a barb (if only i knew someone who practised voodoo)... but i think he'll be pretty fun to play with ...
tightman> i think there was one or two purporting to be such during the competition spammy periods, though with the joys of the internet were probably middle aged balding men with comb overs who sweat alot ...

I think I enjoyed the DH because he was very fast and very powerful. In the beta, my DH's base damage was about 78DPS, higher than any other character I had. My strategy would be to use entangling shot (LMB) and bola (#1) for crowd control, with rapid fire (RMB) for more direct attacks, such as champion monsters, and lastly vault (#2) for quick travel. This proved to be a powerful combo with constant hatred supply.
Barcs, I know what you are saying about the DH. I think my like for him is purely superficial, and he only stands out because of his quickness. After playing him for a while with vault, it's hard to go back to another class that just feels so much slower when walking around. The barb is a welcomed alternative because of his leap attack. I so much enjoyed how we could leap over balconies to lower ground, or vice versa, where we could leap up to higher ground without using the stairs.
As far as the WD goes, I did enjoy him tremendously at first, but in its defense, I did enjoy him when we were able to use the fire bomb (awesome skill).
In retrospect, I do feel like I would become bored with DH in late game, which is another reason why I choose the barb. There's just something about leaping into a mob of enemies and cleaving the sh*t out of them and having them rupture, dealing splash damage to other enemies.
It's hard to say how things will be with the full release, but I'm sure I'll enjoy every class.

The only thing that would have made the DH better would have been Kate Beckinsale's voice. I Also think that the Barb and Monk "play better" as males and the DH and Wiz as females. It's a toss up though for the WD for me. They should have Ahhhnold do the voice acting of the Barb in a patch.

Voice acting is pretty entertaining. I think Blizzard again hit the best actors for all 5 classes.
