If you get the Templar are you going to get the gargatuan ? I think smaller minions + Templar/Scoundrel(for buff) is good for fast killing.

Probably a tank for a follower (warrior?). You'd have your zombies, dogs, and the warrior, while you DPS.

It seems that the Templar(s) seem to be the popular choice here. But i'm thinking that the WD could possibly use the Scoundrel or Mage to maximize damage dealt and maybe have a pet tank?

I like the enchanter abilities most, pets can tank let her CC and boost damage.

Can you only pick one and not change later? I'll go enchantress then I think. We can be AoE buddies.

I'm going to be using the Templar. He will be a good tank to attack the enemies head on, and draws a lot of there attention, allowing me to cast.

Kinda obvious, templar of course!! Witch doctor has to stay more in the back than the wizard and Demon Hunter combined!
Peace

With dogs or gargantuan in your build I won't get the templar, probably I would take the Scounderl for added physical dps in case of magic resistant enemies.
But for a summonless WD templar is probably a must.

I was thinking this, but I REALLY want to work in Scoundrel for slow / stuns, but I think I'll take Enchantress. She has slows / stuns / knockback.
